The Proposal.... Decoded

As most of you know this was created by myself, and then printed and placed on display for Jo in June 2007, I told Jo that there was a hidden message for her within it, but she assumed that there was no message and that it was a set up in order for me to have a laugh whilst she tryed to decipher a coded message that never existed….. (Can’t blame her it’s something that I would do).

The code is made up of two layers, ASCII Binary (representing my field of interest - left) and a DNA gel (representing Jo’s field of interest - right).

I have placed a break down of the entire alphabet translated into ASCII binary below.

As you can see for yourself the initial ASCII binary on the image spells out Jo’s full name from left to right.

Next you will find the DNA gel that I have created using several examples found on the web (I believe that this was originally a DNA gel before it was modified). I altered the image so that it displayed the oranges and the blues in an appropriate order which I’ll explain next.

Now imagine that the blues are zeros and the oranges are ones and you have the second part to the code which is of course ‘WILL YOU MARRY ME’

So to conclude (and I’m sure you’ll agree with me) I was hassled un-necessarily about taking my time in  proposing to Jo when the question was in fact being popped every time she sat in front of the telly, It should have been me hassling Jo for an answer to my very important question……

All in all I believe that I’ve been a very patient man, but then they do say ‘good things come to those who wait’ and I have to say, with my heart and soul...’I agree’.
